Salford - Armed forces charities provide financial boost for Broughton House
Broughton House Veteran Care Village in Salford has hailed the financial support of three armed forces charities for helping it through the pandemic.
Grants from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the Veterans’ Foundation have helped to ensure financial stability for Broughton House during a testing period. Karen Miller, chief executive of Broughton House, said the grants totalling £220,000 from the three organisations have proved crucial in enabling the home to weather the Covid storm.

Oldham - Three men arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after early-morning warrants in Oldham
Just after 6am on 29/04/22, officers from GMPs Oldham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team executed warrants at several addresses.
A quantity of controlled drugs was seized and three men, two aged 17 and a 58-year-old, were arrested in connection with the supply of prohibited drugs and remain in custody for questioning.
Manchester - Footballer remains on bail
Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood will remain on bail until mid-June over allegations he raped and assaulted a young woman.
The 20-year-old was arrested in January after images and videos were posted online by a woman.

Bury news - College student finds success
A Bury College A-level student has found himself with a Degree Apprenticeship at UK’s largest accountancy firm Deloitte.
Faisal Makansi, 18, is a former student of Co-op Academy Manchester and currently studies A-levels in Accounting, Business and Maths at Bury College.

It was another record-breaking day for our monthly blitz on local crime as Operation Avro landed in Rochdale yesterday and saw over 60 arrests throughout an action-packed day of activity in the town.
The seventh edition of Op Avro brought together resources from across the Force in the latest example of our commitment to take the fight back to the criminals as part of a resurgent GMP.
By the end of the day of action on Thursday 28 April, we'd conducted 11 warrants, smashed almost a dozen drug lines, seized £500k's worth of counterfeit items, issued nearly 200 traffic offences, discovered three large cannabis farms, and made a total of 63 arrests for a range of offences.
