Wigan Warriors climbed to second in the Super League.

This was a composed and clinical victory over Hull FC at the KCOM Stadium.

The visitors made an immediate impact, opening the scoring within five minutes as Bevan French capitalised on a defensive lapse to claim his sixth league try of the season. Hull responded through Will Pryce, who cut inside smartly to reduce the deficit.

Jai Field’s agile finish restored Wigan’s lead, and although Harvey Barron replied for the hosts, further scores from Junior Nsemba and Jake Wardle gave the Warriors a firm grip on the contest before the break.

In the second half, Abbas Miski's acrobatic finish in the corner extended the advantage, before French added his second of the evening with a surging 80-metre run. Nsemba crossed again late on to complete a dominant team performance.

French’s opener came after he latched onto a loose ball in broken play, seizing on a breakdown in communication between Hull defenders. Pryce initially struggled to find space on the flank but was instrumental in Hull’s equalising try, first driving the team forward and then breaking through with a sharp dummy for his first score since joining the club last month.

Hull's momentum stalled almost immediately after the restart when Lewis Martin stepped into touch while collecting the kick-off. From the resulting field position, Wigan took advantage, with Field slipping through to score their third try.

Barron briefly narrowed the margin with a try from Aidan Sezer’s pinpoint kick, but Nsemba’s powerful finish restored the visitors’ cushion. Wardle added a fifth before half-time, exploiting a defensive lapse to stroll over in the corner.

After the interval, Miski’s effort was initially in doubt but confirmed by the video referee, who ruled that the winger had grounded the ball cleanly despite pressure from the defence.

French soon put the result beyond doubt, collecting the ball deep in his own half and outrunning the Hull line to score his third try of the season against Hull, following a brace in Wigan’s emphatic 46–4 win in February.

Nsemba’s second late on added further gloss to a polished team display, ensuring Wigan remain two points adrift of leaders Hull KR after nine rounds.
