Football: Stockport County 3 - 2 Lincoln City

Substitute Isaac Olaofe struck a late winner as they remain in 3rd place, still needing a win to secure a home 2nd leg in the play-offs.

With a play-off place already assured, County appeared destined for defeat after first-half goals from Ben House and Erik Ring put the visitors firmly in control. But a spirited second-half fightback, featuring goals from Jayden Fevrier and Will Collar, set the stage for Olaofe to complete the comeback in dramatic fashion.

Lincoln took the lead in the 24th minute when House finished clinically from Tendayi Darikwa’s incisive pass. The Imps then doubled their advantage shortly before the interval, Ring rifling a shot beyond Corey Addai after finding space in the area.

Stockport responded just three minutes into the second half as Fevrier fired low past George Wickens to halve the deficit. Kyle Wootton went close to an equaliser soon after, his header striking the post with Wickens gratefully gathering the loose ball.

The momentum continued to shift in the hosts’ favour and, with 12 minutes remaining, Collar powered home a header from Fevrier’s inviting cross to level the scores.

The comeback was complete moments later when Fevrier turned provider once more, cutting the ball back for Olaofe to sweep in the decisive goal.

Lincoln almost salvaged a point late on, but Jack Moylan’s effort came back off the woodwork as Stockport held on for a win that keeps their top-two ambitions mathematically alive.

David Thompson, a huge Stockport fan, told us: "From a supporter perspective, we see that the players have shown real, real character and resilience, and they've found a way to get results. Automatic promotion was always unlikely, but we go into the play-offs in great form."

Frank added: "The transformation of the club in recent years has been sensational. Regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season, we're in a much better place."
