Football: Swindon Town 2 - 2 Salford City
Salford picked up a potentially valuable point
The Ammies came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw away at Swindon Town in League Two, earning a valuable point on the road.
In a game full of attacking intent, Swindon took the lead twice through Tom Nichols and Harry Smith, but the Ammies responded each time, with goals from Hakeeb Adelakun and Kelly Nmai ensuring they headed back to the North West with a share of the spoils.

Swindon made a blistering start, almost going ahead inside three minutes. Former Salford goalkeeper Connor Ripley launched a ball over the top for Kabongo Tshimanga, who found himself one-on-one with Jamie Jones. The Ammies keeper stood tall to make the save and then reacted quickly to deny Miguel Freckleton on the rebound.
The hosts didn’t have to wait long to break the deadlock, though. Will Wright’s corner was met by Nichols, whose volley took a deflection off Lewis Warrington and wrongfooted Jones to give Swindon the lead.

Salford hit back just before the half-hour mark. Rosaire Longelo burst down the right and delivered a cross that fell kindly for Adelakun, who made no mistake with his second attempt, rifling past Ripley to make it 1-1.
The visitors nearly turned the game around before the break. Adelakun weaved his way past three defenders before squaring for Longelo, but his close-range effort was superbly kept out by Ripley.
With 20 minutes to go, Swindon went back in front. Substitute Paul Glatzel scuffed his effort in the box, but the loose ball fell kindly for Smith, who hammered his shot into the roof of the net.
Salford’s response was almost immediate. Tyrese Fornah, on the pitch for mere seconds, was slipped through on the left. His shot crashed against the post and rebounded to Nmai, who reacted quickest to fire home on his first start since December.
Both sides had chances to win it late on. Gavin Kilkenny tried to bend a shot into the top corner, forcing a strong save from Jones, while at the other end, Haji Mnoga’s long throw was flicked on to Matthew Lund, whose acrobatic effort flew just wide.
Near the end, Mnoga had a golden opportunity when the ball fell to him from a Tom Edwards corner, but he couldn’t get a clean strike away.
After the game, Karl Robinson challenged his Salford side to keep pushing, insisting they are still in the fight for a play-off spot.
