Football: Aston Villa 0 - 4 Manchester United
Ruthless Manchester United strengthened their grip on the top three
Manchester United tightened their hold on a top-three spot in the Women's Super League with a dominant victory over a struggling Aston Villa side.

Marc Skinner’s team controlled proceedings at Villa Park and were rewarded as they moved seven points clear of rivals Manchester City in the race for Women’s Champions League qualification.
For Villa, it was another damaging result in their fight for survival. Natalia Arroyo’s side remain just one point above the relegation zone, with growing concerns over their WSL future.
They were outclassed by a superior United side and found themselves 3-0 down by half time.
Striker Elisabeth Terland struck twice, first tapping in Celin Bizet’s pass from close range before heading home a superb curling cross from Jayde Riviere.
England international Grace Clinton added a third on the stroke of half time, lifting the ball over goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo from long range.
Villa felt Clinton had fouled Jill Baijings in the build-up, but there was little room for complaints as United continued to dominate. Their fourth goal came when Leah Galton’s touch was deflected into the roof of the net by defender Lucy Parker.

It was a near-perfect performance from United, though they returned to Manchester with injury concerns after Bizet and substitute Anna Sandberg were both forced off in the second half.
Villa’s battle for survival does not get any easier, with five games left to secure their place in the WSL next season.
