The hosts responded as James Carragher drilled a powerful low shot on target, only for Ben Hinchliffe to make a strong stop—his final contribution before being forced off and replaced by Corey Addai.

Tickle then pulled off another stunning save at point-blank range to keep out former Wigan man Callum Connolly, who had latched onto Owen Moxon’s corner at the far post.

Wigan had a golden opportunity to take the lead with 15 minutes remaining when Joseph Hungbo slipped in substitute Ronan Darcy, but Addai produced an outstanding save with his leg to keep the scores level.

Just seven minutes later, the game was effectively decided. Lewis Bate slotted home from close range in the 79th minute, before Will Collar wrapped up the points, heading past Tickle from Callum Camps’ pinpoint cross with eight minutes left.

A tough defeat for Wigan, while Stockport continue to build momentum in their play-off push.

Concerns for The Latics?

Wigan's inconsistent form has resulted in fans starting to worry about a possible relegation to League Two. They are six points clear of the drop zone and have games in hand on everyone below them. However, that has not stopped some of those concerns. Another relegation would be a disaster for the club.

Their next game is an away trip to Crawley before they face promotion hopefuls Wycombe next weekend.

More positive signs for Stockport

After some time in the Non League wilderness, Stockport have had a fantastic run in the last few seasons. Very few of their fans would have expected another promotion but they look set to qualify for the play-offs. They also have a reasonable chance of gaining automatic promotion to the Championship. Onwards and upwards for County.
