A great win for Salford City

With the game winding down, Kylian Kouassi sealed the result with a late strike 10 minutes from time.

The match had started evenly, with little to separate the teams until Garbutt broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. His teasing free-kick curled into the box, seemingly begging for a touch, but it eluded everyone and nestled into the top corner.

Salford doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark. Matty Lund delivered a precise pass to the edge of the area, where Fornah’s somewhat scrappy strike took a deflection and found the bottom corner.

Barrow had their moments in the first half but lacked accuracy, with Sam Foley firing two efforts well off target and Kian Spence coming agonisingly close with a free-kick that drifted just wide.

In the second half, Barrow thought they had pulled one back when Elliot Newby found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside – a decision barely visible through the thick fog. Soon after, Fornah nearly added a third for Salford, only for goalkeeper Paul Farman to make an excellent save.

Kouassi eventually wrapped up the scoring in the 80th minute, coolly slotting into the bottom corner to cap a fine performance from the hosts.

The only blot on Salford’s day was Fornah’s dismissal late on, as he picked up a second yellow card for a rash tackle on Spence.
