However, Wrexham substitute Steven Fletcher broke Wigan’s hearts in the 90th minute, firing in the winner from the edge of the box. A closer look at what happened Shaun Maloney made two changes to the starting XI, bringing in Scott Smith and Michael Olakigbe for the injured Matt Smith, who is sidelined until March, and Silko Thomas. Author - Sophie T  With the game winding down, Kylian Kouassi sealed the result with a late strike 10 minutes from time. The match had started evenly, with little to separate the teams until Garbutt broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. His teasing free-kick curled into the box, seemingly begging for a touch, but it eluded everyone and nestled into the top corner. Salford doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark. Matty Lund delivered a precise pass to the edge of the area, where Fornah’s somewhat scrappy strike took a deflection and found the bottom corner. Klaidi Lolos gave Bolton the lead in the 26th minute, scoring his third goal of the season, and for much of the match, it looked like Barnsley’s barren run against their hosts would continue. However, the visitors showed resilience despite a poor recent record of just one win in their previous eight matches across all competitions. They came close to levelling when former Bolton player Luca Connell hit the post early in the second half, while Jon Russell squandered two chances – firing over with only Nathan...

What's going wrong at City and United?

Image
It's been an awful Christmas so far for United and City Let's explore what has been going wrong Author -  Liam Chadwick Man City: Champions to nowhere There's an obvious argument now that City's players are too old and maybe the manager should have made more changes to the squad in the summer. However, it would’ve been a tremendous bit of bravery for Pep to sell a club legend in order to get playing time for some of the ex-City players now thriving elsewhere. Even the 'younger' ones are struggling. Erling Haaland scored 10 goals in the first five matches of the Premier League season, putting him on pace to break his own single-season goals record. However, he has only scored three times in the subsequent 13 games and has provided just one assist. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has taken the lead in goals scored this season. Under Pep Guardiola, City has consistently scored the most goals and generated the highest expected goals in the league. What transformed them i...

However, the match erupted in the final moments, leaving City’s fa...
