Salford - Armed forces charities provide financial boost for Broughton House Broughton House Veteran Care Village in Salford has hailed the financial support of three armed forces charities for helping it through the pandemic. Grants from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the Veterans’ Foundation have helped to ensure financial stability for Broughton House during a testing period. Karen Miller, chief executive of Broughton House, said the grants totalling £220,000 from the three organisations have proved crucial in enabling the home to weather the Covid storm. She has been charged with 10 charges of fraud by false representation and one charge of fraud by abuse of position. Fancy a night out that raises money for an ace local charity? Keep reading This looks like it will be a great local event. All the money raised will support community projects across Greater Manchester. On Wednesday 27th April, Forever Manchester will be hosting their Forever Funny Comedy Night at Manchester’s Frog and Bucket Comedy Club. The night will feature four great comedy acts and is the perfect opportunity for a staff night out, or a catch-up with friends, whilst supporting Forever Manchester. Following on from a previously sold-out Forever Funny event, this isn’t a night you want to miss! Good News: Bury College students raise money for local Hospice

It's time for a good news story. This one involves students from Bury College raising money for Bury Hospice. Bury College Business students have been busy raising money for Bury Hospice as part of their college Course. Their course includes a unit called Business Events, and it was as part of this that the students decided to raise money for something close to the hearts of many.    The students were split into four groups, across two classes and each of them had to decide on an event they wanted to run. They organised two car washes, one murder mystery-themed escape room and sold lanyard reels.  A group of Bury College students have been busy raising money for @BuryHospice as part of their Level 3 Business Course. Warrington Wolves 32-18 Salford Red Devils Salford Red Devils fell to a defeat at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight, in Round 8 of the Betfred Super League. The hosts were first over the try-line after 7 minutes – Toby King weaving through a gap in the Salford defensive line to go over towards the left of the sticks. Just before the half-way mark of the first forty, King scored again in a similar position to his first to extend the Wire’s lead. In the 27th minute, Ryan Brierley saw yellow for holding down at the play-the-ball, five minutes before Matty Ashton dived over in the left corner for Warrington. Brierley returned from the sin-bin in the 37th minute and set up Ken Sio in the corner two minutes later, finding the winger with a neat grubber kick. Some of the latest updates from Greater Manchester Police Man charged following double fatal collision in Manchester A man has been charged with driving offences after two people died following a collision in Manchester City Centre in February. Abdisalan Ali (01/01/1998), of Gerry Wheale Square, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, following a fatal collision on the 20 February 2022. Ali was driving down Wilmslow Road in Parrswood, before being involved in a collision with two pedestrians, aged 64 and 71, who very sadly died from their injuries. Ali was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday 19th May.
